Living The Sabbatical Life
The Truth About High Performance & Hard Work
I have a confession to make: As a business owner I used to work a LOT.
Like, a LOT a LOT.
I used to work 60 – 70 hour weeks, answering emails and sending texts over the weekend and I totally bought into the 24/7 Hustle idea, that if you weren’t working hard, you weren’t moving ahead in your business.
Except here’s the thing: While I did move ahead in business, I was also stressed out, burnt out and my emotional health and well-being just wasn’t where it needed to be.
I realized I needed to make a change.
And more specifically, I realized that I needed to create habits that allowed me to have more ease and flow in my life so I could be more successful in my business, WITHOUT sacrificing key elements in my personal life.
And at first I didn’t think it was possible. “How could I work less, get more clients and have more peace and ease in my life?” It sounded so counter intuitive that I actively resisted for awhile.
But then it hit me.
In order to get MORE clients and feel LESS stressed in the process, you need to be LESS focused on doing and more intentional around creating habits that allow you have more ease and flow in your life.
And in the process of doing THAT, the clients will come to you as a matter of course.
I call this living a Sabbatical Life and once I got it, it literally changed my life.
And during this presentation, I’ll show participants how it can change theirs as well.
Have you ever wondered why some business owners and leaders are more successful than others?
Why some individuals have terrific results with their teams and businesses, while others with the EXACT SAME skillset, work ethic and training seem to struggle?
I have.
And after interviewing experts, writing articles, being interviewed myself on close to 100 podcasts, and listening to my own 25+ yrs of experience, it turns out the truth about high performing results, is that you DON’T have to work like a maniac 60 to 70 hours a week to be successful.
How do I know?
Because I used to do that myself.
And I talked to other people who have too, and you know what they say?
That even AFTER putting in all of those hours, that they don’t feel like a “high performance” leader at all. Instead they just feel worn out, burnt out and a lot less fulfilled and connected with themselves and others as they would like…but they don’t know what to do.
They know that something is missing, but it can’t be working more hours, because they’re already doing that and it’s not getting them to where they want to go.
Which is why during this session, I talk about my own personal experience of successfully dealing with this situation, along with supporting science and research that shows participants some specific techniques that I and some of the highest performing business leaders and athletes in the world are using to improve their performance.
